Appreciating Single Parents 2011

There is a Mother's Day and a Father's Day.......

And NOW Single Parents Day!

We celebrated Single Parents Day on 17 May 2011.

12 Children and 30 parents were treated to food, fun and testimonies sharing.

We thank our sponsors for door gifts and prizes for adults and children.

Little girls received pretty vanity bags and boys got their belts and toys as well.

A short talk on parenting skills with the intentions to foster better

understanding with their ex-spouse concerning the raising of children was conducted.

The objective was to help parents teach children cope better with

their losses and emotional trauma due to their broken and shattered world.

A few single parents shared how they coped with the separation and losses

and what they did to ensure they had Godly models for their "fatherless" children.

A mother invited her ex-husband to visit as often as possible and

another exposing her son to godly male friends and family members.

One crucial key from the sharing was teaching children to

seek Father God as the missing father in their lives.

Praying and talking to Daddy God about their feelings; joy, sadness, fears and needs.

"Even if my father and mother abandon me, the Lord will hold me close"

Psalm 27:10

A video on on parental alienation was screened as well.
