DSWANS come of age - Celebrating our 10th Year Anniversary

A short note from a beautiful lady who benefited from our support group.

Dear Deborah,

Congratulations on DSWANS 10th Anniversary celebration.  This is a very commendable and happy occasion because I know you and your team have worked very hard and spent a lot of time and effort to reach out to ladies (maybe men) and their families in need.

You had struggled through hardship and had risen above your circumstances.  Now you are able to reach out to help other mothers (fathers) and their families.  You have such a warm, caring and generous heart Deborah.  Although I participated only in a few of your outreach programmes, I follow DSWANS from the email you sent me.

The programme which really helped me and my support group (intellectually challenged children) is the comprehensive course on sexual abuse of children.  The recent headline of the English man who abused  our Malaysian and Cambodian children for so long shows that more public awareness is dire needed.  I have a Down Syndrome son who is now 33 years old. The intellectually challenged is one of the groups most vulnerable to sexual abuse. The course was truly an eye opener and to this day I still share the information I learned with parents.

God bless you and your family and also the DSWANS community.
With warmest regards and best wishes,
Connie (Koh)
